About
My name is Sandy Pittet
My earliest creative memories involve my mother and the magnificent sketches she would draw of the models on sewing patterns. She often chided that as soon as I stopped eating my crayons, I started using them for drawing. Unfortunately, on everything...
I attended the Alberta College of art where I majored in drawing. The digital world was just emerging, so I switched my focus to graphic arts where I remained for most of my working life. During that time, I established a company called On the Wild Side as a vehicle to promote my limited edition prints and art cards. Ironically, the name lends itself to the style of painting I am currently exploring - a technique called the Dutch Pour. It allows me to concentrate on color and composition without worrying about fine detail. The incontrollable nature of the results is exciting and allows me to see things I never could have dreamed of before.
My passion for Pet Portraits has never waned. The emotion and gratitude I receive have kept me going for over 40 years. I love capturing the spirit of the animal whether it be domestic or wild. It is a challenge that I love pursuing.
